PELHAM – The annual Dixie Vintage Antique and Classic Car Show will be held at Oak Mountain State Park on Saturday, April 14, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event, hosted by the Dixie Vintage Antique Automobile Club, will feature 200 cars on display, according to club marketing director Joe Alfano. The event will also include food trucks, vendors, cash prizes and a DJ.

Vehicle registration begins at 8 a.m. and costs $25. Ask at the park gate for directions to the car show. There will also be a shuttle service to and from the show area.

Alfano said the vehicles participating in the car show will be grouped into four categories and the top five cars in each category will be awarded. There will also be cash and door prizes for car show participants.

Proceeds from the car show will benefit Travelers Aid of Greater Birmingham, which provides transportation for travelers who have become displaced and disconnected from their normal support systems because of domestic violence, mental illness, abandonment, exploitation, release from a treatment facility or prison and much more.

“We picked this organization to donate to because it’s transportation related and it provides an essential service to the community,” Alfano said. “They rely solely on donations.”

Their services include information and direction, travel planning, brief case management, situational counseling and financial assistance for travel needs.

The organization’s Senior Ride Program provides free transportation to and from medical and health cares related appointments for low-income elderly and adults with disabilities.
