New walking track project approved for Helena Intermediate School

ALABASTER–With support from members of the Shelby County Board of Education, a small project contract for Helena Intermediate School and more was approved at the Tuesday, June 12, Shelby County Board of Education meeting.

The small project contract was awarded to Southeastern Sealcoating, Inc., as they will construct a small 8-foot paved walking track at Helena Intermediate School.

The approved cost of the walking track project was $33,993.04.

Other small projects approved by the Shelby County Board of Education on June 12, included the following:

–Painting for Helena Elementary School, Vincent Elementary School, Chelsea Park Elementary School, Oak Mountain Elementary School and Calera Intermediate School for a total cost of $49,200.

–Sealcoating and striping at Mt. Laurel Elementary School, Vincent Elementary School, Oak Mountain Elementary School, Oak Mountain Middle School, Chelsea Park Elementary School, Helena Middle School and Shelby Elementary School for a total cost of $24,512.36.

–A new toilet facility for the Chelsea Middle School football field for a low bid of $132,485.
