Brenda Frances Roy Oglesby, age 74, of Alabaster, conquered death through the resurrection of Jesus Christ and went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 15. She fought a courageous battle with AML.

The visitation will be Monday, June 18 from 1-2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Alabaster. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Darren Kennemer officiating. Burial will follow at Elliottsville Cemetery. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Brenda was a 1963 graduate of Bessemer High School. She lived her life to serve others and devoted herself to her church, her family, and her God.

“MeMaw”, as she is so lovingly known, is preceded in death by her husband, her forever sweetheart, Ronnie Oglesby; and her parents, Jones and Sarah Lee Roy.

She is survived by her son, Scott Oglesby (Michele); daughter, Kim Scherer (Lucky); five grandchildren, Zachary Oglesby (Brittany), Hannah Rigney (Hunter), Ashlyn Oglesby, Luke Scherer, and Lily Scherer; two great grandchildren, Blakely Brynn Rigney and Mary Katherine Oglesby; brother, Ronnie Roy (Rita); sister, Joan Vickery (Vick); and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Her friends and family will forever be impacted by her beautiful life, loving spirit, giving heart, and wonderful laugh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Alabaster.
