HARPERSVILLE – Morgan Creek Winery will celebrate Independence Day with Music and Fireworks in the Vineyard on Wednesday, July 4, from 5-10 p.m.

“It’s always a great time,” said Paula Tompkins, accounting and gift shop manager for the winery.

With barbecue, country music and wine tastings, the celebration has become a fun and classic tradition for people across Shelby County.

Tuscaloosa-born Glen Templeton will perform at 6 p.m.

“He’s upcoming, really popular and has a large fan base,” Tompkins said.

Currently based in Nashville, Templeton will return to his home state with the country sound the Fourth of July event always features.

The winery will also offer tours and tastings from 6-8 p.m. Morgan Creek specializes in muscadine and fruit wines that are native to Alabama.

Hosting July Fourth celebrations since they opened in 2000, the event has the same Southern charm as always.

“People bring their blankets and picnic baskets, and kids have a lot of fun. It’s family oriented,” Tompkins said.

The night will end with fireworks for all to enjoy.

Tickets are $15 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under.
