HOOVER – A water main break forced the closure of U.S. 280 in the Inverness area on the morning of Wednesday, July 25.
The highway was closed to all westbound traffic at Greenhill Parkway beginning at about 5:30 a.m., according to a release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
“Water authorities are on the scene and estimate that the repair will take two hours,” the release read. “The highway will remain closed while the repair is being made.
“Traffic is being detoured around the trouble spot. Motorists are advised to take an alternate route if possible and watch for first responders in the area. Use caution and drive slowly if you must travel this part of Highway 280.”
The roadway reopened to traffic shortly after 8 a.m.
