ACS admins named to state board of directors

ALABASTER – A pair of Alabaster City Schools administrators will play a role in providing support to school administrators across the state, as they were recently named to the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools’ board of directors.

Dr. Brenda Rickett, executive director of teaching and learning for the Alabaster City School System, will serve on the board of directors of the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools. As president of the Alabama Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Rickett will represent the AASCD affiliate’s members of the CLAS board.

“We are excited to welcome Brenda Rickett to the CLAS Board of Directors,” said CLAS Executive Director Dr. Vic Wilson. “Her tremendous leadership qualities are evident as she was selected to serve as president of the AASCD affiliate. Servant leadership is vital to the success of our association and we sincerely appreciate Brenda’s willingness to serve Alabama’s premier leadership organization as a representative of AASCD on this prestigious board.”

Heather McDermott, child nutrition program director for the Alabaster City School System, also will serve on the board of directors of the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools. As president of the Alabama Child Nutrition Directors, McDermott will represent the ACND affiliate’s members on the CLAS board.

CLAS, the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools was founded in 1969 by a small group of school leaders to provide targeted professional development and support for Alabama’s public school administrators.  CLAS now serves ten affiliates representing each type of public school/school system leader.  CLAS provides the framework to connect dedicated school administrators and other successful leaders with a network for professional growth and support. Headquartered in Montgomery, AL, CLAS is the foremost professional development provider for administrators of public schools in the state of Alabama.
