CHILDERSBURG – It’s been an up and down season so far for the Montevallo Bulldogs volleyball team, but on Tuesday, Sept. 18, the Bulldogs experienced one of those ups with a key area victory against the Childersburg Tigers on the road.

While it’s been difficult at times to sustain momentum and confidence, Montevallo didn’t show any of that in its win over the area foe, dominating from start to finish in a 3-0 sweep of the Tigers.

From the first set, the pace was set and we got a feel for which team was the better of the two thanks to an impressive effort from each of the Bulldogs’ players on the court.

Their play led to a 15-point 25-10 win in the opening set to start with a 1-0 lead, and with a overriding victory like that, it was already tough to see Childersburg being able to bounce back to pick up a win.

Montevallo was still able to control the set for the most part and pulled away late for a still dominant win by a final score of 25-17 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

That seemed to be the final nail in the coffin with the Tigers giving a strong effort, but coming up short.

With all of the momentum on Montevallo’s side, the Bulldogs were able to close the match out with ease in the third set, taking down Childersburg by a final score of 25-8 to pull off the 3-0 sweep.

Competing in a five-team area with good teams such as Leeds and Indian Springs, this was an important win for Montevallo moving forward, as the Bulldogs hope to be able to claim
