HELENA – After initially planning to host a couple of October events, the Helena Market Days series has decided to cut the fall season short.

Organizers with Helena Market Days cited “the limited supply of local fall crops this season” as the reason to close down the fall market early.

Originally scheduled for October was a Chili Cookoff event on Saturday, Oct. 13 and the Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 27, to cap off the Helena Market Days season, but those events have been cancelled due to the limited crop supply.

“We want to thank everyone – customers, farmers/vendors and volunteers – who made this market season a great one,” a post on the Helena Market Days Facebook page read. “We really do hope that you will join us next season, starting in June. We will have an even better selection than we did this summer and are planning lots of special events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Helena Market Days.”

Helena Market Days exists as a venue for local farmers and producers to sell directly to residents of Helena and its neighboring cities. Scot Newman is the market manager and can be reached directly at 313-377-9078 or by email at Helenamarketday@gmail.com.
