NORTH SHELBY – Grief can be particularly difficult during the holiday season as memories and feelings of loss are more poignant.

To help those grieving the loss of a friend or loved one, Asbury United Methodist Church is partnering with Community Grief Support to offer a free, community-wide, grief-counseling seminar on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon in Room 144 on Asbury’s campus.

“When you’re grieving, the holidays can be sad and lonely instead of happy and joyous,” Asbury’s Congregational Care Director Maggie Dunaway said. “This seminar is designed to help attendees remember their loved ones, cope with their loss, and learn how to find joy in new experiences and traditions that last throughout the year.”

The seminar will begin with a light breakfast, and then Licensed Professional Counselor Steve Sweatt from Community Grief Support will lead the program.

Since 1998, Community Grief Support has helped more than 30,000 bereaved through free grief counseling and grief support groups as well as community-wide grief education programs.

All services the organization provides are free to the community.
