ALABASTER – Brookwood Baptist Health on Nov. 13 announced Susan Bria has been named chief nursing officer of Shelby Baptist Medical Center. Bria served as interim CNO since May of this year while continuing her role as director of nursing at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, a position she held since 2013.

Prior to her role as director of nursing, Bria served as manager house supervisor of Shelby Baptist Medical Center from 2011-2013 and nurse manager at Princeton Baptist Medical Center from 2005-2011.

“To officially welcome Susan into the role of CNO at Shelby Baptist Medical Center is a natural transition for such a talented team member,” said Daniel Listi, CEO of Walker Baptist Medical Center.” Susan has worked in nursing for more than 30 years, and we are incredibly fortunate to have a seasoned leader to continue to build upon the quality care delivered by the Shelby Baptist team. We look forward to her continued contributions.”

This marks the second major position Shelby Baptist has filled this month, as the hospital named Megan Drake as its chief operating officer on Nov. 6.

Drake began her career with Community Health System in 2010 as an administrative specialist at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Arkansas. She held roles of increasing responsibility during her tenure with CHS before being named acting chief operating officer and later assistant chief executive officer of Cedar Park Regional Medical Center in Cedar Park, Texas.

In 2015, Drake joined Tenet Healthcare as market chief strategy officer of Valley Baptist Health System in Harlingen and Brownsville, Texas, and most recently, she joined Prospect Medical Holdings in Los Angeles as senior vice president of business development of the west region, based in San Antonio.
