ALABASTER – A 51-year-old woman was pronounced dead on Nov. 30 in an early morning house fire on Nolen Lane just outside Alabaster city limits in the Saginaw community, according to Shelby County Coroner Lina Evans.

Christy Feenker, who lived at the residence, was found deceased inside the home after Alabaster and Saginaw firefighters responded to a report of a fire on Nolen Lane off U.S. 31 just south of the Alabaster city limits.

Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after 12:30 a.m., and found the fire fully involved when they arrived, said Alabaster Fire Chief Tim Love.

Two of Feenker’s family members arrived on the scene and notified firefighters the victim was still inside the residence. A portion of the house collapsed in the blaze, and responders discovered the victim’s body buried in debris, Love said.

The cause of the fire currently is being investigated by the state fire marshal’s office.
