ALABASTER – Although Shelby County is in the midst of the winter months now, the spring sports seasons are quickly approaching, and Alabaster has now opened its online registration for baseball, soccer and softball.

Online registration for all three sports opened on New Year’s Eve at 8 a.m., and will run through Jan. 12 at 11 p.m.

In-person registration is also available from Jan. 2-11 at the Alabaster Parks and Recreation office in Veterans Park at 7305 Alabama 119. In-person registration is open on weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The following guidelines apply for each sport:

 

Baseball

-Fees are $165 for rookie through metro, and are $90 for 4-year-old through T-ball.

-Families get a multi-child discount of 10 percent after the oldest child is paid in full.

-An additional 10 percent fee is added for non-Alabaster residents.

-Parks and Rec does not accept checks, only cash, debit cards, Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit cards. A 4.5-percent service fee applies to all debit or credit card transactions.

-Spring baseball practices begin on Monday, Feb. 11, the parade of teams will be on Friday, March 15, opening day will be on Saturday, March 16 and picture day will be on Saturday, April 6.

Softball

-Fees are $165 per child.

-Players born between 2005 and 2013 qualify to play. Those born in 2014 must have been born before July 16. For those born in 2004, families should contact the Parks and Rec office to be placed on a waiting list, which will be contacted if enough players sign up to fill a team.

-Fees are $110 for divisions U9 and up, and are $90 for U6 through U8.
