Nell Seale Crawford, age 89 of Calera, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born in Shelby County on March 17, 1929,the daughter of the late Ermon Vaughn Seale and the late Gladys Campbell Seale.

Nell was a lifelong resident of Calera, where she worked at her family’s business, Crawford’s Service Station. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church, and she enjoyed walking at Minooka Park and bird watching with friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Armstrong of Alabaster; daughter, Patty Manasco of Jemison; daughter-in-law, Gina (David) Jones of Calera; grandchildren, Wendy (Paul) Lang, Jamie (Jeff) Culbertson, Chris Manasco, Michael Crawford, and Jennifer Crawford; great grandchildren, Heather Lang, Haley (Andrew) Scorby, Jenna Manasco, Jaida Heath, Thomas Culbertson, Jacob Heath, Jaxon Heath, and Caroline Culbertson; great-great grandchild, Logan Lang; sister, Becky (Doug) Allen of Dogwood; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son, Mike Crawford; parents, Ermon and Gladys Seale; brothers, Charles, Ralph, Archie, and Doug Seale; son-in-laws, Robert Armstrong and James Manasco; and former husband, Johnnie Mac Crawford.

Visitation was held Thursday, Jan. 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. from Northside Baptist Church (Calera) with Rev. Bill Alexander officiating.

The body lay in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery in Calera.

Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison Memorial Funeral Home at Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera.
