PELHAM – LifeSouth is encouraging area residents to help meet the need for blood and platelet donations by participating in a blood drive at the Pelham Public Library on Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The library is located at 2000 Pelham Park Boulevard.

Snowstorms and extreme weather conditions in parts of the United States have forced dozens of blood drive cancellations and donation center closures. As a result, thousands of blood and platelet donations have gone uncollected.

Donors are urged to give to ensure that patients don’t have to worry about the availability of blood.

Someone needs blood every two seconds. Each day, 43,000 pints of donated blood are used in the U.S. and Canada. Giving blood helps save lives. One pint of blood can save up to up to 3 lives.

For more information, call the library at 620-6418.
