HOOVER – Hoover police are investigating a convenience store burglary in which the perpetrators apparently accessed the store by cutting a hole in the roof.

Hoover Police Department officers responded to Sunny Foods, located at 1571 Cahaba Valley Road, on a report of a burglary at about 6:23 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22.

“A clerk discovered the crime when she opened the store for business this morning,” read a release from HPD. “It appears the suspects entered the business by cutting a hole in the roof. Once inside, they destroyed the alarm panel, cut the phone lines, and disabled the video surveillance system. The suspects took an undetermined amount of cash, alcohol, and cigarettes before exiting the store via the hole in the roof.

“Investigators believe at least two suspects are responsible for the crime and that they may have been driving a dark colored SUV.”
