Rodney Lynn Damon, age 69, of Montevallo, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31.

Rodney was born September 23, 1949. He was born in Jamestown, New York and moved to Alabama in 1980 where he pursued a career in structural steel detailing.

Rod served six years in the Air force Reserves from 1968 to 1973 and was recognized as a Staff Sergeant at the end of his service.

He loved traveling to Gatlinburg, and collecting unique functional items. He also loved Nascar, his favorite driver was #20 Tony Stewart.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Violet and Richard Damon.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 48 years, Cheryl Schultz Damon; daughters, Renee’ Boothe (Ike III), Nicole Damon, and Kelly Toth (Aaron); grandchildren, Snowy, Kayci, Nathan, and Dylan Forrest, Zac Brantley, Memphis Masters, and Logan Toth; siblings, Daniel Damon (Fran), and Lori Dahlgren(Erik), and several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters in law, and friends.

Rod was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held for Rod on Saturday, March 23 in the chapel at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) from 3-7 p.m.
