Jeff State offers career opportunity for adults with disabilities

HOOVER – Jefferson State Community College’s Hospitality and Culinary program will host a new career opportunity for adults with disabilities on Friday, March 15.
The “Modified Fundamentals Cook Immersion Day” will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Shelby-Hoover Campus’ Health Sciences Building, Multi-Purpose Room A.
Immersion Day is an opportunity for young adults with disabilities to consider a new career training opportunity.
Preferred candidates are enthusiastic individuals who may enjoy working with others in a fast-paced setting.
Advance registration is required, with a limit of 20 people per session.

The agenda includes:
- Registration and welcome from Chef Joseph Mitchell, director of the Hospitality and Culinary Management; and Brian F. Geiger of The Horizons School.
- Orientation to Jefferson State Community College and the Culinary and Hospitality Institute, with a chance to meet CHI faculty and staff, review program objectives and requirements, and a campus tour.
- Interest screening tool.
- Hands-on skill practice.
- Panel with JSCC Admissions, Financial Aid and ADA Officer with refreshments, with topics covered included admission requirements, tuition and fees and reasonable accommodations.
