COLUMBIANA – The 2019 Shelby County Senior Picnic offered an array of live entertainment for hundreds of residents on May 2.

The picnic, titled “Shelby County’s Got Talent” this year, drew more than 800 people to the Shelby County Exhibition Center for lunch and an entertainment lineup including Three on a String, Leah and Tom Slaughter, 2BLU and the Lucky Stiffs and the Sugar Babies.

Shelby County RSVP Coordinator Marvin Copes said this year’s picnic seemed to be the largest one the county has ever had.

“This is a fun event for seniors,” Copes said. “They look (forward to) this.”

Copes said he has almost 1,200 volunteers in the RSVP program, and most of them helped with the picnic.

County Manager Alex Dudchock was pleased with the turnout, too.

“We’re excited,” he said, adding the entertainment lineup featured “great talent.”

Full Moon Bar-B-Que provided lunch, and numerous vendors gave out information about local businesses and organizations.
