MONTEVALLO – Locally grown produce, flowers and other goods are available at the Montevallo Farmers’ Market this summer.

The market, an annual program offered by the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce, will be held every Monday from 3-6 p.m. through Aug. 19 behind Montevallo First Baptist Church on Main Street.

In addition to the usual fruit and vegetable offerings, this year’s market also features kettle corn and edible cookie dough.

“Those are two of our newest additions,” Montevallo Chamber Executive Director Steve Gilbert said, and added, “We have a fresh-cut flower vendor. They’re grown locally here, and fresh-cut the day of the market.”

Gilbert said the market averages between 16-20 vendors each week.

“We have someone who makes handmade soaps, we have a lemonade stand, and plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables,” he said. “We’ve got a really good group of local growers.”

The Montevallo Farmers’ Market is a certified market by the Alabama Department of Agriculture.

Anyone interested in becoming a vendor should visit the Chamber’s website, Montevallocc.com, and click on the Farmers Market tab at the top of the page for information.

Market updates can be found on the Montevallo Farmers’ Market Facebook page.
