PELHAM – The Helena Miracle League is in need of bowlers, sponsors, donated items for a silent auction and more for the second annual Bowling for a Miracle event to help the organization reach its ultimate goal of building a special needs ballpark in the city.

Bowling for a Miracle is set to take place Saturday, Aug. 24, from 1-3 p.m. at Oak Mountain Lanes in Pelham. Day of registration will begin at 12:30 p.m.

The proceeds from the bowling event will help fund the future home of the 125-foot baseball field that will sit on a plot of land roughly 2.5 acres behind Joe Tucker Park in Helena. This ballpark will feature ADA accessible restrooms, a pavilion area, concession stand and a disability accessible parking lot.

The League is in search of bowling teams consisting of six bowlers per team at a cost of $35 per bowler. The cost will include two hours of bowling, free shoe rental, door prizes, food, a silent auction, team prizes for the most money raised and the highest score.

The deadline to register for the event is Friday, Aug. 9, or until all spaces are filled.

The Helena Miracle League’s mission is to provide opportunities for children with disabilities to play Miracle League Baseball, regardless of their abilities, promote community support and sponsorship of Miracle Leagues and promote the construction of special facilities that meet the unique needs of Miracle League players and their families.

Other alternative uses for the future field in Helena could include visits from nursing home members for exercise, kickball, soccer and Special Olympics events.

In addition to bowlers, the League is in need of donated items for the silent auction, a $300 donation for event sponsors, a $210 donation for bowling team sponsors and pledges to sponsor special bowlers. All donations will be tax deductible.
