FROM STAFF REPORTS

MONTEVALLO – University of Montevallo baseball head coach Chandler Rose has announced the 2019 fall camp schedule, which will see the program host a Top Prospect Showcase on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Kermit A. Johnson Field in Montevallo.

It’s a camp that will be available to high school baseball players in grades nine-12

“This event will allow for prospective student athletes to showcase their ability in front of the entire University of Montevallo coaching staff, as well as other four year colleges and junior college coaches,” read a press release. “This event is for student-athletes that are currently in High School grades nine-12. The Prospective Student Athletes will be put through a pro-style workout, which includes batting practice, defensive work, and bullpens.”

The camp will cost $100 for each attendee with check in at 9 a.m. and start time at 10 a.m.

With Shelby County full of baseball talent after both Briarwood and Chelsea making it to their respective classification’s state championship this past season, and several good prospects on other teams; this event can have an impressive local impact, while also reaching throughout the state and the Southeast.
