New WiFi program offered by ACS

ALABASTER – Alabaster City Schools has partnered with T-Mobile and LeanStream Resource Partners to provide affordable Wi-Fi for local families and ACS employees.

The program, called WiFi on the Go, launched about a week ago and provides participants with unlimited nationwide wireless Internet through a wireless broadband HotSpot device, provided by T-Mobile, for $50 per month. Up to 15 people can connect to the device at once.

“I’ve seen the demos and it really does work,” Vickers said. “This is a more affordable option for families in comparison to some of the other offers out there, and it benefits the school system. This program is open to any of our ACS stakeholders.”

Vickers said the program also serves as a fundraiser for the district because a portion of the $50 fee will be given back to ACS.

The HotSpot is portable and can be used at home, in the car, on vacation, at the ballpark or anywhere else that T-Mobile’s service is available. There are no data limits, no extra charges and no contract. The WiFi HotSpot device will remain active as long as the participant continues paying $50 per month.

The HotSpot device will be shipped – activated and ready for use – directly to the donor. Interested individuals do not need to be a T-Mobile customer to sign-up.

“We’re excited about this new venture, and as far as I know, we’re the first school system in Shelby County to offer this,” Vickers said.

The program is limited to ACS employees, students and their families. To learn more, go to Leanstreamrp.com/continuousGivings/add/22.
