Roy Lee Martin

On Tuesday, Aug. 27, my beloved husband and soulmate departed into heaven.

Mr. Roy Lee Martin was a life long resident of Shelby County.

He is predeceased by his parents, Parker and Elizabeth Martin, and son, Brandy Lee Martin.

Mr. Martin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Charlotte Jones Martin; sister, Margie Martin of Clanton; sister-in-law, Marge Martin of St. Augustine, Florida; nephew, Brandon Jones (Dottie) and their son Eli; and grandchildren, Parker, Evan, and Noelle.

He was a former member of the Alabaster Rotary Club, past president of the Greater Birmingham Association of Homebuilders, and the first recipient of The Roy Lee Martin Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mr. Martin was the project manager of the new SunView Baptist Church in Pelham. The loves of his life were the Lord, his family, cattle farm in Jemison, and Alabama football.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. A celebration of Roy’s life will be Saturday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. burial to follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
