Muriel A. Davis

Muriel A. Davis, age 72, passed away Monday, Sept. 30.

She was born Jan. 10, 1947 in West Virginia to Clyde and Betty Hedrick. She was a graduate of the University of Montevallo. She married Cecil F. Davis on August 12, 1983, and worked as a Social Worker for Shelby County DHR until she retired. She was known for her compassion towards her clients and for being an advocate for seniors in their later years.

Muriel had four passions is life 1) the color blue, any shade or hue; 2) Butterflies of all colors and sizes 3) travel, anywhere and anytime, and 4) her family. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her life partner Cecil.

Muriel is preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband, Cecil.

She is survived by a sister, Denise Shaw (Jason) of Wilsonville; brother, Richard Hedrick (Penny) of Florida; five step children, Benny Davis (Kristin) of Ashland, James Davis (Rebecca) of Columbiana, David Davis (Gloria) of Shelby, Debbie Long (Randy) of Calera and Mary Mikus (Mike) of Illinois. Muriel had 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family, friends and others whose life Muriel touched are invited to Calera Baptist Church, 600 Whippoorwill Ln, Calera, AL 35040 at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 to celebrate her beautiful life, reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, just chat.
