Harpersville Day will honor veterans, town’s ‘Stars’

HARPERSVILLE – The town of Harpersville will celebrate the Sixth Annual Harpersville Day, a free family-friendly community event, on Nov. 9 at the Harpersville Municipal Park.

Festivities begin at 8 a.m. and will conclude at 2 p.m.

Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy activities including: DJ James Marbury; Fifth Annual Cruzin-N-D-Cottin Car Show presented by Streetscene Automotive Restoration Company Inc.; and children’s activities such face painting, bounce houses and a choo-choo train.

There will be plenty of vendors and food trucks offering a variety of food, arts and crafts, and more.

Automatic Slim Blues Band will again provide the afternoon’s live musical entertainment, and Peg Hill will serve as emcee for the event.

Harpersville Day will feature a parade beginning at 10 a.m. near Coosa Valley Academy on Park Place. The parade will then make a right turn on Sun Valley Road and will end near Knox Street.

At 11 a.m., there will be a pause to salute local veterans with a program of gratitude and recognition.

In addition, the Stars of Harpersville will be honored. These Stars are Harpersville residents past and present who have made a significant impact and represented the community with honor and dignity.

To conclude the ceremony, the winners of the hay bale decoration contest will be announced.
