MONTEVALLO – The city’s Main Street corridor will transform into what could resemble a scene from a holiday movie on Thursday, Dec. 5, for Montevallo’s annual Christmas parade and tree lighting.

The event will start with holiday music from the Montevallo Community Band on the post office lawn prior to the tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m., according to Montevallo Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Steve Gilbert.

“The winners of the downtown window decorating contest will be announced after the tree lighting,” Gilbert said. “Come stroll along Main Street before and after the parade. Our new Christmas banners and lights will help kick off the holiday season. Join Santa at Montevallo Elementary School after the parade.”

The parade will start at 6 p.m. Lineup is at 4:30 p.m. in the Montevallo High School parking lot.

There is no charge for parade registration; however, those wanting to participate must complete and return registration forms to the Chamber office at 845 Valley Street no later than Nov. 25.

Registration forms are available at https://montevallocc.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/sites/20/2019/10/Christmas-Parade-Information-Packet-2019.pdf.
