ALABASTER – In the spirit of the holiday season, Carmeuse Longview has partnered with Toys for Tots to host a toy drive to give back to the community and spread joy to local children and teens in need.

From Dec. 2-12, Carmeuse is collecting toys and children’s clothing at the main office of their production facility located at 599 Highway 31 South.

Carmeuse is asking the community to donate various toys and other items to the drive. Suggested donation items include children’s and young adult books, art supplies, winter clothing, sports equipment, kid-friendly video games, headphones, handheld electronics, radio control cars/trucks, board games and backpacks.

“Toys for Tots is an important tradition for the United States Marine Corps Reserve,” said Staff Sgt. Bryan Adcock, the Toys for Tots coordinator for Jefferson County. “Toy donations help the less fortunate and bring smiles and joy to local families in need. We’re very appreciative of Carmeuse Longview serving as a supporter of the drive by setting up a drop site for donations at their facility.”

The Carmeuse Cares Holiday Toy Drive is one of many ways the company supports the community. In August 2019, Carmeuse sponsored the Carmeuse Cares School Supply Drive to offset back-to-school costs for local teachers and students. The company also champions the work of Family Connection, Inc., an Alabaster non-profit that provides services for at-risk youth.

“Carmeuse is thrilled to be a Toys for Tots drop-off location this holiday season,” said Jackie Padgett, senior area environmental manager at Carmeuse Longview. “We understand that this time of the year can often be difficult for families in need. We want to help lighten the load and bring holiday cheer to these local parents and children.”
