CHELSEA – Chelsea residents and others can enjoy a delicious breakfast on Feb. 29 while knowing they are helping support children in the community.

The Chelsea Kiwanis Club’s Seventh Annual Pancake Breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Feb. 29 at the Chelsea Community Center.

The meal will include pancakes, sausage patties, coffee, milk, orange juice, syrup and butter.

Tickets are $5 each and are available at ChelseaKiwanis.org by clicking on the pancake breakfast link.

Those interested can also purchase tickets at Chelsea retail locations including Hayes Eye Center, Renasant Bank and Chelsea PostNet, or from Kiwanis Club members or at the door.

All proceeds minus direct expenses go to charitable organizations that support the children of Chelsea and the surrounding area.

Kiwanis Club member Scott Weygand said discussions about starting the pancake breakfast seven years ago focused on supporting children while also strengthening relationships in Chelsea.

“We thought a pancake breakfast would be a good way to bring the community together,” Weygand said.

The club sponsors various local organizations, including King’s Home.

Most club members help in some way with the breakfast—whether by cooking pancakes, serving coffee or taking tickets.

“Everybody who is in the club who wants to be involved gets involved,” Weygand said.

The Chelsea Community Center is located at 11101 Shelby County 47.
