PELHAM – The City of Pelham plans to give residents an opportunity to declutter and clean up their homes and spaces by offering a heavy trash pickup on March 28 and document shredding and e-recycling on April 4.
The heavy trash pickup will allow residents to discard larger items not typically picked up by Advanced Disposal.
The specifications for the items are that items must be under 300 pounds and less than 6 feet long.
Accepted items include things like “grills, lawnmowers, paint cans, furniture, vacuum cleaners, auto interior parts, picnic tables, dismantled swing sets, bicycles and general debris.”
According to a press release, “all items need to be curbside by 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28th. The Shelby County Landfill is waiving dump fees on this date for residents dropping off items at the landfill.”
The April 4 date will have Pro-Tec recycling set up at Pelham City Hall from 9:00 a.m. to noon to assist with electronics recycling.
This will allow residents to recycle items like laptops, cellphones, cables, batteries, gaming consoles and more. Pro-Tec cannot recycle any TVs at this event.
There will be a $10 fee for hard drive shredding and CRT monitor recycling.
The city will also offer a document shredding service at the same time and location.
This will be a free service, provided by Shred-It, allowing residents to shred up to six boxes worth of documents to help declutter homes and offices.
More information about the Clean Up days can be found at Pelhamalabama.gov or by calling Pelham City Hall at 620-6400.
