MONTEVALLO – Plans are in place for the city’s annual Love Montevallo Day celebration and the second 5K Color Fun Run on Saturday, March 14.
The focus of Love Montevallo Day 2020 will be the public and private investment made in Montevallo.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., live music, an art walk, a public art tour and a ribbon cutting for a new mural will be held in the Village on Valley area, near C’s Cake & Coffee House.
“In the event that it rains, we will have a big tent set up, and the show will go on,” Mayor’s Assistant Maggie Benson said.
The Montevallo Junior City Council and the University of Montevallo will partner to present the Love Montevallo Day Color Run, which will benefit the MJCC and The Arc of Shelby County this year.
The run will start at 9:30 a.m. at the Village on Valley. Colored powder will be thrown on runners at each mile along the nearly 3-mile race course. The color is safe for runners and will be thrown below the face.
Participants are encouraged to wear a white T-shirt for highest color impact. Love Montevallo Day T-shirts will be available for purchase at the event, while supplies last.
Participants may bring their pets on leashes.
The cost to participate in the run is $25 for adults, $10 for high school students and younger, and $15 for UM students.
