MONTEVALLO – The Montevallo Police Department along with the Shelby County Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a shooting that took place overnight in the city.

Around 1 a.m., the MPD posted to Facebook that a 19-year-old male was shot at the Wolf Creek Apartments located in the 800 Block of Shelby Street.

The individual was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham where he was later pronounced deceased.

“We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community,” MPD posted to Facebook. “This is an ongoing investigation, so more details may be released at a later time.”

The Montevallo Police Department is asking for anyone with information on the deadly incident to contact investigator Gray at 205-665-1264.
