Pelham reschedules Heavy Trash Day for June

PELHAM – The city of Pelham plans to give residents an opportunity to declutter and clean up their homes and spaces once again after rescheduling its Heavy Trash Pickup Day.

Originally scheduled for March 28, the event will now take place on Saturday, June 13, according to a press release from the city.

On that day, residents will have the opportunity to discard items not normally picked up by Advanced Disposal.

The specifications for the items are that items must be under 300 pounds and less than 6 feet long.

Accepted items include things like grills, lawnmowers, paint cans, furniture, vacuum cleaners, auto interior parts, picnic tables, dismantled swing sets, bicycles and general debris.

Items that will not be picked up or accepted include refrigerators, televisions, freezers, stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water heaters, Tires, oil, batteries, engine blocks, window AC units, riding lawnmowers, bug spray, paint cans with liquid paint.

According to a press release, “all items need to be curbside by 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. The Shelby County Landfill is waiving dump fees on this date for residents dropping off items at the landfill.”
