PELHAM – After dropping a pair of games to close out the Pelham Turkey Classic, the Pelham Panthers got back to winning ways with a convincing 71-51 win over the Marbury Bulldogs on Monday, Nov. 27 at Pelham High School.

The teams felt each other out in the first quarter, combining for 12 points in the opening eight minutes.

A three-pointer by Gerren Ingram and three points from Karma Wynn helped the Panthers take an 8-4 lead into the second quarter.

From there, Pelham’s long-range shooting kicked into gear and helped it establish a comfortable lead over Marbury.

The Panthers knocked down four three-pointers in the second quarter, including a pair by Ally Barfield, to build out a 25-14 lead at the halftime whistle.

While the Bulldogs showed some fight in the third quarter and hit four three-pointers of their own during that stretch, Pelham kept improving on offense as the game went on to see out the victory.

Wynn hit four shots in the third while Ingram and Shea Gallagher each had four points to give the Panthers a 21-point third quarter and a 46-30 lead at the end of the quarter.

Pelham didn’t rest on its laurels and closed out the game with its strongest quarter of play in the game.

The Panthers dropped 25 points on Marbury in the fourth, which countered a 21-point effort and strong showing on the free-throw line from the visiting Bulldogs.

Tiauna King led the way with nine points in the final quarter to go with another pair of three-pointers from Barfield.

Five different Pelham players scored baskets down the stretch to help the Panthers secure the 71-51 win.

King and Wynn tied for the team high with 17 points, while Wynn recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds and King had six assists.

Both Barfield and Ingram had 12 points each, Alayna Noble scored seven points and Gallagher recorded six points.
