PELHAM – The Pelham Panthers extended their win streak to seven by defeating the Marbury Bulldogs 78-50 on Monday night, Nov. 27 at Pelham High School.

The Panthers came out hot on both ends of the court in the opening quarter. Of the 13 players on the roster, eight of them scored in the opening period and gave Pelham a solid 19-4 lead going into the second quarter.

Things did not slow down in the second quarter either for Pelham. The scoring was spread throughout the lineup again with several Panthers scoring.  Egypt Daniel hit a pair of great three-pointers in the quarter to score six of Pelham’s 24 points in the second period.

Going into the half, Pelham was up 43-16, but there was still a lot of fight left in the Bulldogs in the second half.

Coming out of the halftime break, Marbury put up 21 points in the 3rd quarter to trim the Panther lead to 50-37 entering the 4th, putting the pressure on the home side going into the fourth and final quarter.

In the fourth, Pelham’s offense found its first half form as they added 19 points in the final period. That helped the Panthers secure the 28-point victory and keep their great early season form going.

The Panthers were led in scoring by Daniel with 13, Kendall Smith with 11 and Dynarian Long, who added 10.

Pelham will return to action against cross-county rival Calera on Tuesday night, Nov. 28 with tip set for 7:30 p.m.
