SYLACAUGA – The Briarwood Christian Lions extended their win streak to five games with a 79-61 victory on the road against the Sylacauga Aggies on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Much like the first two games of their current undefeated run, Drew Mears led the way for the offense, but Caleb Keller and Luke Schultz also both hit double-figures in the Lions’ latest win.

Keller and Eli Stubbs each hit a pair of three-pointers to help Briarwood score 27 in the first quarter and jump ahead to an early 10-point lead.

Mears then improved on his six-point first quarter with an 11-point effort in the second as he and his teammates combined for 20 more points before halftime to give Briarwood a 47-28 lead at halftime.

The Lions offense also passed the 20-point mark in the third quarter thanks to six more points from Mears and five more from Keller, and those 22 points helped Briarwood outpace Sylacauga’s 17 in the period and add to its lead.

That 69-45 lead at the end of the third gave the Lions enough of a cushion to see out the win despite the Aggies scoring six more than them in the final eight minutes of play.

That would only cut the lead to 18 to end the game as Briarwood walked away with a dominant 79-61 road win.

Mears scored 28 points in the victory, while Keller had 13 and Schultz scored 10. In addition, Stubbs dropped eight points, all in the first quarter, and Thomas Loudon had five points.
