McCALLA – The Chelsea Hornets are still the only undefeated AHSAA basketball team in the county after dominating the McAdory Yellow Jackets, 46-7, on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

After cruising to victory in an in-school game thanks to a lockdown defense, the Hornets are now 10-0 and finding their form in the early stretch of the season.

The scoring started early as Chelsea went on an 18-0 run in the first quarter to assert itself as the favorites in the matchup, as Caroline Brown scored seven of her 12 points in the first quarter and Sadie Schwallie scored five of her seven in that time as well.

The Hornets held the Jackets to just one made field goal in the first half thanks to Olivia Pryor taking three steals in the second quarter and Sydney Carroll grabbing three rebounds.

Now up 28-2 at halftime, Chelsea kept increasing its lead and keeping the ball away from McAdory.

The Hornets had nine rebounds in the third, including three by Allie Scott, and Haley Trotter blocked a shot to help her team increase its lead to 40-4.

In a quiet fourth quarter, Chelsea still remained in control and added a few more points to put the finishing touches on the 37-point victory.

Brown led the team with 12 points and also had three steals. Carroll had eight points and dominated the glass with eight rebounds. Schwallie scored seven points and grabbed three steals.

In addition, Trotter had six points, four rebounds, two steals and a block, and Pryor scored six points and earned a team-high five steals.
