HELENA – The Helena Huskies took their third win of the week with a 60-47 win over the Oak Mountain Eagles at home on Friday, Dec. 1.

An explosive start from Helena’s Ian Johnigan and Josh Williams proved to be the difference and helped the home side claim the double-digit victory.

Johnigan and Williams scored all of the Huskies’ points in the first quarter as Johnigan scored 11 and Williams had eight in the first eight minutes to take a 19-7 lead.

The second quarter was more evenly matched, but Helena still outscored Oak Mountain 11-10 to extend its lead before the halftime break to 30-17.

Drew Davis and Johnigan scored six points apiece in the third quarter, but Emanuel Johnson

dropped nine of Oak Mountain’s 14 points in the third in response.

Helena remained in control of the game, however, and won the quarter to extend its lead to 49-31.

That 18-point lead helped the Huskies close out the game despite the Eagles outscoring them in the final period of play.

Camden Spangler scored all seven of his points in the fourth quarter and helped Oak Mountain score five more points in the fourth than Helena, but it was not enough to draw within single digits and the Huskies claimed the 60-47 win to improve to 7-1.

Johnigan led all scorers with an impressive 26-point night, Williams dropped 17 points and the third man in double figures for Helena was Davis with 10 points.

For Oak Mountain, Johnson led the way with 19 points, while Garrett Gorman scored nine points.
