Jimmie Yessick Sims, 93, of Hoover, Alabama passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. She was born in Maylene, Alabama on September 22, 1930.

Jimmie graduated from Montevallo High School in 1948. Her professional career included secretarial roles for United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) and the Alabama Citizens Action Program (ALCAP). She was a member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster, Alabama, where she enjoyed many close friendships in the Grace Sunday School Class.

In her leisure, Jimmie loved camping, traveling, and going on mission trips with her husband Bill and a wonderful group of friends. Her other favorite pastimes included sewing and cooking, especially desserts.

Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William F. Sims; her parents, Willie Pearl Houston Yessick and Jesse Franklin Yessick; and a sister-in-law, Erlene Yessick.

Jimmie is survived by two daughters, Susan Sims Meyer (John) and Donna Sims McFeeters (Bill); one granddaughter, Allison Meyer; two brothers, Harold Yessick and Houston Yessick (Carol); cousin Janice McCall, who was like a sister to Jimmie; and additional, beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for the gravesite committal service at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
