PELHAM – The possibility of a Jack’s Family Restaurant coming to Pelham was discussed at a City Council work session on Monday, Dec. 4.

At a previous meeting, Pelham’s Director of Economic Development Micheal Simon discussed Jack’s Family Restaurant’s interest in purchasing a portion of land in the Oak Mountain Trail development. The land in question, designated as a piece of Lot No. 2 was negotiated to be sold at $12.12 per square foot with a total sale price of $665,000.

The agreement between Jack’s and the city of Pelham includes a 120 inspection period and $25,000 in earnest money.

At this time a purchase agreement between Jack’s and the city of Pelham has yet to be finalized. However, according to Jack’s proposal, it aims to have the new location open within six months of the real estate deal closing.

At the work session on Dec. 4, Pelham’s City Council discussed the need for a traffic study to be conducted for the possible new Jack’s location to account for any potential traffic lights that may need to be added, however, it was noted that such a study would be expensive for either the city or the restaurant to perform.

Ultimately, it was decided that the council would table possible decisions about a traffic study until a later date. However the council would like Jack’s to provide data they would have internally based on the traffic seen around similar locations

“I personally would like to hear from somebody who works at Jack’s, that knows about their traffic during peak times,” City Councilmember Rick Walsh said. “Because all that impacts the neighborhoods in the area.”

The City Council resolved to reach out to representatives of Jack’s Family Restaurants with the request for a traffic study and the associated data.

While it has not been confirmed that a Jack’s will be arriving in Pelham in the near future, details will be released as they become available.
