PELHAM – Before he travels to Pasadena, California for the Rose Bowl, Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton stopped in Pelham to meet the fans that have supported him all season.
Burton participated in a meet-and-greet with fans at the Birmingham Bulls’ game against the Huntsville Havoc at the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena on Friday, Dec. 8.
The pregame meet-and-greet was free to all fans who bought a ticket to the Bulls game on Friday.
Burton posed for photos, signed autographs and interacted with fans who showed up to the game an hour early just to meet the Crimson Tide standout.
In addition, Burton, clad in a black Birmingham Bulls jersey, participated in the ceremonial puck drop with players from the Bulls and Havoc. He posted a photo from the puck drop on his Instagram page thanking the Bulls for the opportunity.
Fans also participated in a Teddy Bear Toss during Birmingham’s first goal benefitting The Salvation Army as well as Batman vs. Superman Night as the two in-state rivals wore special superhero jerseys in the Bulls’ 3-0 win.
Burton has engaged in his own heroics while playing for Alabama this season. In his second year with the Crimson Tide after transferring from Georgia, he has made 35 catches for 777 yards and eight touchdowns, including one in the SEC Championship to defeat his former team.
He has three games where he has recorded more than 100 receiving yards, including a season-high 197 yards and two touchdowns against Texas A&M and 107 yards and a touchdown in the Iron Bowl at Auburn.
Burton is preparing to face top-ranked Michigan in the College Football Playoff Semifinals at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on New Year’s Day.
