NORTH SHELBY – The Briarwood Christian Lions had another solid offensive showing as they pulled away to beat the Woodlawn Colonels 57-32 on Friday, Dec. 8 at Briarwood Christian School.

Ann Tatum Baker, Emma Kerley and Mary Beth Dicen all hit double-figures in the scorebook to power the Lions to a dominant win.

That started in the opening quarter when Briarwood took an 11-7 lead thanks to six points from Baker and three from Kerley.

The trio of Lions continued to dictate the scoring pace on offense, combining for 13 of Briarwood’s 15 second quarter points, including seven more from Baker to take her over double-digits on the night.

That helped the Lions fend off a trio of three-pointers from Woodlawn, and they increased their advantage to 26-16 at the half.

Going into the second half up 10, Briarwood refused to take its foot off the gas and kept building on its lead.

Kerley dropped eight points in the third as the Lions scored 14 as a team, once again outscoring the Colonels to lead 40-23 at the end of the quarter.

Sarah Travis joined the scoring party in the final eight minutes with six of her eight points coming in the fourth quarter.

That, combined with five from Dicen and another four from Baker, put the finishing touches on a 25-point victory for the Lions in their return home.

Baker was Briarwood’s top scorer with 19 points, while Kerley scored 17 and Dicen had 11 to put three Lions above 10 points for the evening. In addition, Travis scored eight points.
