MONTEVALLO – Birmingham resident Leandra Lyndarius Moss, 29, sped through Montevallo on Monday, Dec. 11 at around 9 p.m. as he attempted to evade arrest from pursuing police officers.

Documents state that Moss had been directed to stop by police officers, and he chose to ignore the directions and fled into a neighboring city at high speeds.

Ultimately spike stripes were deployed in order to bring Moss’ red 2011 Kia Forte EX to a halt. He had been going 100 mph in a 45 mph zone in his attempt to evade law enforcement.

Upon being apprehended, Moss was found to have both marijuana and a stolen Springfield Armory 9mm pistol in his possession.

He was subsequently charged with the following:

  • Unlawful possession of marijuana, second degree
  • Attempting to elude law enforcement, class B
  • Receiving stolen property, second degree

At this time no one appears to have been seriously injured in the course of Moss’ arrest.

Moss is currently being held at Shelby County Jail in Columbiana on a bond of $21,000. He is scheduled to appear in traffic court on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 8:30 a.m.
