ALABASTER – Senior Presley Kauffman smiled and waved to locals during this year’s Alabaster Christmas Parade representing her alma mater as the 2024 Miss Thompson High School.
Kauffman was first named Miss THS during the 2024 Miss Thompson High School Pageant which has become a tradition for the school as various students participate and run for the honor with the winner serving as the representative of the school body for the upcoming year.
“Being named Miss Thompson High School was truly such a surreal experience,” Kauffman said. “I feel so incredibly blessed, humble and honored to have earned this title, and I plan to serve to the absolute best of my ability.”
Kauffman is currently a senior at THS and is deeply involved in the school’s programs as she participates on the Varsity Dance Team alongside multiple clubs such as Mu Alpha Theta, the National Honors Society, Beta Club, Leo Club, Key Club, Dance Honors and Ambassadors.
Each year, the pageant traditionally provides students with a chance to showcase their personality, charm, self-confidence and creativity as they vie for the crown.
“When I was announced Miss THS, I was so excited to see that my hard work had paid off,” she said. “It was such a rewarding feeling, and definitely a moment I will never forget.”
Kauffman said her biggest takeaway from the experience involved the concept of confidence.
“Going into the pageant it is so easy to compare yourself to others and tear yourself down,” Kauffman said. “However, throughout the process I remembered to stay true to myself and be confident in what I can do, and it paid off. Being comfortable in your own skin can be hard, but it is so important.”
Kauffman has already begun representing her school and served her in this year’s Alabaster Christmas Parade on Dec. 9.
“Riding in the Alabaster Christmas Parade was so much fun,” Kauffman said. “I loved getting to see our community come together, and seeing people smile as I went by was so special.
Kauffman will continue to serve as Miss THS and represent her school until next year’s pageant where she will crown her successor.
“I am so excited to see what this year brings for Miss THS and her court,” Kauffman said.
