PRATTVILLE – Looking to put the finishing touches on a perfect week, the Pelham Panthers beat the Prattville Christian Panthers 60-45 on the road on Thursday, Dec. 14 at Prattville Christian Academy to secure their third win of the week.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth contest with Prattville Christian hitting shots from long range to keep Pelham’s momentum in check. However, Pelham did enough to win the first quarter 14-10 and take the early lead.

In the second quarter, Prattville Christian found even more success as they went on a run, and the home side did enough to outscore Pelham and win the second quarter.

It wasn’t enough to take the lead, though, as Pelham earned a handful of key defensive stops to keep the lead going into the half, although it was down to just one point.

Now up 24-23 going into the third quarter, Pelham flipped the switch and made a run to grab hold of the game. Pelham shot well and kept Prattville Christian’s shooters at bay, winning the third quarter 23-6, which cushioned their lead to 47-29.

Prattville Christian still had fight left in them though and actually outscored Pelham 16-13 in the final period, but could not regain the lead as Pelham improved to 15-3 with the 15-point victory.

Pelham was led in scoring by Dynarian Long with 11, followed by Joe Wimberly, Jordan Henschel, and Eli Lewis, who each scored nine points.

Pelham will be off for eight days before hosting the No. 2 team in Class 6A, the Mountain Brook Spartans, on Friday, Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. at Pelham High School.
