PELHAM – Those looking for their donut fix in Pelham will have a new option after Lickin’ Good Donuts opened the doors to its newest location on Tuesday morning, Dec. 19.

The second location of the business in Shelby County with the other in Alabaster, the donut shop also offers popular Conecuh sausage kolaches, other food and coffee.

“Everything is my favorite,” said Sophia, an employee at Licking Good Donuts. “I’ve worked for the owners for almost 10 years.”

The Pelham location is the latest Lickin’ Good Donut shop owned by Yuthvitou Kong and his wife.

“The donut shops, I’ve had them for about 7 or 8 years,” Kong said.

The Kongs first started their business in Texas about six years ago and then moved to Clanton about two years ago where they opened their first store in the area. With the success of their other stores, the Kongs wanted to move into a another city to continue growing the business.

“Right now the people in Pelham know us from Facebook and our Alabaster store,” Kong said. “I’m excited to get to know them better.”

Every morning, the husband-and-wife team wake up around 1 a.m. to arrive at the Alabaster shop around 2 a.m. and begin making treats that are baked using made-from-scratch flour with fresh doughnuts baked throughout the day.

“Every day is pretty busy, but we’re grateful for the support from the community,” Kong said. “Everyone has been really nice. We hope people will continue to support us so that we can stay here for a very long time.”

Lickin’ Good also has locations outside of Shelby County in Clanton and Childersburg, all receiving at least a 4.7 star rating out of five stars when it comes to reviews.

Lickin’ Good Donuts’ new Pelham location can be found at 2128 Pelham Parkway and is open Monday through Saturday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. then on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
