Spain Park cruises to win over Tuscaloosa County

HOOVER – The Spain Park Jaguars claimed another victory before the start of area play with a dominant 56-34 win over the Tuscaloosa County Wildcats at home on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

While the Wildcats hit a pair of three-pointers in the first quarter, the Jags scored 12 points in the first to take an early six-point lead into the second quarter, including five points from TJ Lamar.

Jackson Bradley made two three-pointers in the second quarter to power Spain Park’s offense as it outpaced Tuscaloosa County and extended its lead to nine at halftime.

From there, the teams traded baskets in the third quarter, but the Jags hit six field goals in the period, including five points from Nick Richardson and four points from Lamar.

Spain Park led by 10 points going into the fourth quarter, but the hosts saved their best effort for last to put the game out of reach and secure the win.

Chapman Blevins and Korbin Long scored five points apiece as the Jags offense dropped 18 points in the fourth, and the defense allowed just six points in the last eight minutes.

That put the finishing touches on the 22-point win for Spain Park in its last game before area play begins.

Long led the Jags with 13 points with Lamar just behind him with 12 points. Richardson scored nine points, Bradley and Harrison Stewart each had six points and Blevins finished with five points, all in the fourth quarter.
