PELHAM – Residents of Pelham wanting to have some fun with their furry friends will get the chance to in a few months at the fourth annual Paws in the Park on Sunday, April 14.

“We believe the Pelham community loves pet friendly events,” Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Alicia Walters said. “We know how important our four-legged fur babies are to many in our community.”

Paws in the Park will take place at Pelham Park Dog Park located off Pelham Park Blvd. and will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Well-mannered animals on leashes are welcome to attend.

As with last year, the Shelby Humane Society will be offering discounted pet vaccinations to interested owners.

Several vendors have already been confirmed for the event including Kids Zone. Companies interested in becoming vendors at the event are asked to email Walters at awalters@pelhamalabama.gov.

It has also been confirmed that this year’s Paws in the Park will have activities such as performances by Bama Air Dogs, a pet costume contest and treat trucks.

“We will have a Kids Zone with bounce houses, face painting and much more,” Walters said.

Paws in the Park will benefit Pelham Pet Pantry, a local non-profit that focuses on providing food to pets in need within Shelby County.

“We encourage everyone to bring a bag or can of dog or cat food to donate to this project,” Walters said. “You will not want to miss this event.”
