Alabaster BOE approves renovations to CVES, Warrior Center

ALABASTER – The Alabaster City Schools Board of Education approved new classroom renovations to Creek View Elementary School and renovations to the Warrior Center at Thompson Middle School during a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, March 11 at Alabaster City Hall.
During the meeting, the BOE approved a renovation to the Warrior Center at the recommendation of Volkert, Inc which will completed during Summer 2024.
“We wanted to go in and refresh it with new tile, new paint and make it look like the rest of the building,” ACS Superintendent Wayne Vickers said.
In addition, the Alabaster City Schools BOE also approved classroom renovations to Creek View Elementary School at the recommendation of Volkert, Inc which will completed during summer break.
Over the past few years, ACS has completed multiple renovations to CVES, including ones to its restrooms, common areas, lunchroom, library and media center. Now, with the final phase of renovations approved, the classrooms will be updated with school colors, new casework, paint and ceiling tiles.
“It’ll be a complete refresh of that school,” Vickers said.
In other news, the Alabaster City Schools Board of Education approved the following items on the agenda:
- Out-of-state field trip requests
- Proposed 2024-2025 district calendar
- Education textbook adoption
- Wide Area Network bid
- Intercom upgrade bid for Thompson Middle School
- Replacement of carpet at Thompson High School’s Performing Arts Center
After handling the agenda, Vickers addressed the BOE and provided updates on the various programs that have happened recently across the school system, including Black History Month programs that occurred at Thompson High School and Thompson Middle School as well as Reading Across America programs. Vickers also highlighted the launch of a new ACS mobile app and the soft launch of ROOMS as a communication tool.
“There are amazing things going on in our schools,” Vickers said.
The next ACS Board of Education meeting is currently scheduled for Monday, April 8 at 5 p.m. at Alabaster City Hall.
