CHELSEA – After emerging from Spain Park on Friday, March 15 with a commanding 5-0 win, the Chelsea Hornets repeated the feat on Tuesday, March 19, this time beating the Hewitt-Trussville Huskies 5-0 at Chelsea High School.

Of those five goals, three came from Javi Rivera-Miranda as he secured a hat trick against the Huskies.

The win puts the No. 3 Hornets at 2-1 in area play heading into the final three games against area opponents.

Chelsea wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as six minutes in, junior forward Max Wever handled Harper Jones’ cross into the box and sent in a goal to put his team up 1-0.

Just two minutes later, Luke Miller’s shot ricocheted off the post, but Rivera-Miranda was there for the rebound effort which was too much for the Hewitt-Trussville keeper.

That goal made the score 2-0 inside of 10 minutes, and the score line held through the halftime break as the Hornets remained comfortably in front.

15 minutes into the second half, Jones had another excellent service for a scoring chance, this time to Rivera-Miranda, who brought up the ball the rest of the way and easily finished the shot for his second goal of the game and Chelsea’s third.

In the 68th minute, Rivera-Miranda had a golden opportunity close on goal to finish off the hat trick, and he did just that to put the Hornets up 4-0.

As time winded down, Miller ended the game on an emphatic note with a big goal to make the final score 5-0 in the closing moments.

Brock Marlow earned the win in goal with another clean sheet for Chelsea.

The Hornets will finish out the week with a home match against top-ranked Oak Mountain as they hope to improve on their result from the last time they faced the Eagles. The two area foes will clash on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. at Chelsea High School.
