PELHAM – Pelham parents and guardians are reminded to make time for the upcoming kindergarten registration process that is set to take place during the first week of April before the new school year begins on Aug. 8.

Pelham Oaks and Pelham Ridge Elementary Schools will welcome incoming kindergarten students and their parents and guardians for enrollment and registration on Tuesday, April 2 from 3:30-6 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 3 from 9 a.m. to noon.

“We look forward to meeting all of our new kindergarten students, and we’re excited to get everyone registered and ready for school to begin,” read an announcement from Pelham City Schools.

In order to proceed with kindergarten registration, parents will need to set up a PowerSchool account and complete the online registration process for their students prior to the actual kindergarten registration day where their student is zoned to attend.

School zoning and assignment is determined by the home address of the student. More information and help in determining school zoning can be found by visiting Pelham City Schools’ website at Pelham.ss16.sharpschool.com/for_parents/enrollment___registration/zoning.

PCS reminds those creating accounts that it is important to create only one account per household in order for the system to properly save and access information correctly.

PowerSchool account registration is meant to be completed by a family adult and can be found at Registration.powerschool.com/family/Login?ReturnUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fregistration.powerschool.com%2Ffamily%2Fdirectaction&AutoLogOut=False.

The same site, tailored for Spanish speaking individuals, can be reached at Registration.powerschool.com/family/Login?ReturnUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fregistration.powerschool.com%2Ffamily%2Fdirectaction&AutoLogOut=False.

Following online registration, copies of several documents will be required for presentation during the registration event held at the school. Parents and guardians are also reminded to make sure that they bring physical printed copies of the documents, as staff cannot accept email or electronic copies and no printing services will be provided.

Parents are instructed to bring the following for registration:

  •  Photo ID of the parent or guardian is required.
  •  Current, up-to-date Alabama Immunization Form for each student.
  •  Birth certificate for the student.
  •  Custody Papers, if applicable. (If mother and father are listed on birth certificate but not living in the same household, officials will need custody paperwork. A final or current order with the judge’s signature must be submitted.)
  •  Proof of residence – All students are required to provide two accepted documents showing a verifiable proof of residence. This may include a current utility bill, utility deposit receipt, current lease agreement, current U.S. government communication, property deed, current vehicle registration or current insurance policies.

For Kindergarten enrollees, the proof of residence verification also needs to be completed during both the registration appointment and also during summer verification.

The dates for summer verification are as follows:

  • July 9 at Pelham Park Middle School from 2-6 p.m.
  • July 11 at Pelham Ridge Elementary from 7-11 a.m.
  • July 16 at Pelham Park Middle School from 2-6 p.m.
  • July 18 at Pelham Ridge Elementary from 7-11 a.m.

New students who successfully complete their registration will receive a “Home of a Future Panther–Ready for Kindergarten” yard sign that they can display in their front yards at home.
